Girl Scout Troop: Sunflowers: Seeds to Eat and Share with Wildlife

Brownie Between Earth and Sky HandbookBrownie and Daisy troops in Beaverton will be shown the head of a giant sunflower and harvest seeds from it to taste. Activity: Sunflower seeds will be planted in Dixie cups for girls to take home with them to grow on a windowsill.

Girl Scout Troop: Roots, Shoots, Leaves and Trees
October 5, 2016 | 6:30pm

Daisy Girl Scout HandbookBrownie and Daisy troops in Beaverton were instructed how to identify the difference between evergreens (conifers) and deciduous trees in their school landscape. The might oak tree leaves and nutlets were used to match content in their journey books. The most popular leaf and tree was Gingko biloboa -  since the tree harkens back to the dinosaur age. Activity:  Paper was laid over leaves and traced with crayons for a picture to take home to parents. Girl Scouts were given their favorite leaf to take home to show parents and siblings what they had learned.
